…The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood Warning for portions of the following streams in central and southern Indiana…

Big Blue River…Big Walnut Creek…Driftwood River…East Fork White River…White River…Tippecanoe River…Wildcat Creek…Eel River…

.Widespread Lowland flooding developed along rivers and in central and southern Indiana. Significant flooding is possible at a few locations. Flood crests will range from bankfull to 9 foot above flood stage in the Montezuma area along the Wabash.

Flooding will affect local and some state roads, extensive
bottomlands and river parks. Flooding will last through the weekend in central Indiana through the first week of February in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois.

Widespread rains of 1 to nearly 2 inches fell in central and southern Indiana on Thursday night. Melted precipitation since January 10 total from 2 to slightly more than 4 inches.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions…

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river conditions.

* Forecast…Rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and continue to rise to near 8.1 feet by this evening. The river will fall below flood stage by this evening.
* At 8.0 feet…Low agricultural lands, river parks and a few local roads flood along the Tippecanoe River. Oakdale Public Access Site flooded.
