End lat/lon: 40.2826/-86.4603

Survey Summary:

The National Weather Service conducted a storm survey in Clinton
County for a line of thunderstorms that moved through the area
after 11:30 AM EST on Saturday. The damage was detremined to be
from a downburst mostly across an area east of Frankfort, IN
starting with some light roof damage and a wooden fence push
eastward just south of SR 28. A wider area of damage was found
just west of Frankfort High School where a church steeple was
pulled slightly out, and where a storage shed was demolished and
homes near that shed experienced debris damage and windows blown
out. Across Maish Rd. where the high school is located, several
Bradford Pear trees were split and branches torn off in the front
of the school. Extensive debris made of 3/4-inch plywood was found
up against a chain link fence. It looks like this material
originated on top of the high school where roofing was being added
or replaced. Just east of the high school there is a WalMart
where an empty 18-wheel truck was tipped over. It is assumed this
truck was located near three other trucks aligned north-south in
the parking lot. More of the roofing material from the high school
was found along a chain link fence that was bowed eastward toward
the WalMart. There was also three Bradford Pear trees along the
east fence line of the parking lot of WalMart. These trees were
also split with branches broken off and the parts of trees broken
off in a field next to the property all pointing eastward.
Additional damage was found along S. Broadway Ave. north of SR 28
where a Bradford Pear tree was split, large branches were broken
off a tree. The last of damage and debris was found north of SR 28
on S County Road 250E where a small piece of debris from the high
school was found halfway up an evergreen tree and numerous tree
branches were down.

NOTE:
The information in this statement is PRELIMINARY and subject to
change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS
Storm Data.
