…Slick Spots Will Linger Through the Morning…

Patchy drizzle will transition to flurries and snow showers across
central Indiana this morning. Heavier snow showers developing
northeast of the Indianapolis metro area will also produce rapid
reductions in visibility over short distances this morning.

Although drizzle will end by daybreak…slick spots will linger
through the morning rush hour on untreated roads and elevated
surfaces such as bridges and overpasses as surface temperatures
fall into the middle and upper 20s.

Use caution if traveling early this morning and allow extra time
to reach your destination.

…Scattered Snow Showers and Snow Squalls This Afternoon May
Cause Travel Impacts…

As colder air moves into central Indiana this afternoon behind a
cold front, scattered snow showers and squalls will continue to
develop across the area. The focus for the heavier snow showers
and squalls will generally be along and east of Interstate 65.

The squalls will create rapidly changing conditions over short
distances as burst of heavier snow cause drastic reductions in
visibility. Wind gusts up to 30 mph may cause blowing snow as well
within heavier squalls. Snow showers and squalls will end this
evening with additional accumulations up to an inch, especially
over northeast portions of central Indiana.

Motorists traveling into this evening should be alert to rapidly
changing road conditions and reduce their speed when encountering
heavier snow showers and squalls. Even across areas that will see
little additional snow, roads have slick spots from the morning
snow.

…Strong winds expected through Tuesday…

Southerly winds will increase ahead of a cold front into the
overnight, with gusts peaking from 35 to 45 mph over central
Indiana. Additionally, a narrow band of showers with a few
rumbles of thunder is expected to accompany the cold front as it
tracks across the area from west to east between 1100 PM and 400
AM. Some of the showers could produce a few wind gusts of 50 to 55
mph.

Once the front tracks east of our area late tonight, winds will
shift to westerly. Winds will briefly diminish towards daybreak
before higher gusts of 30 to 40 mph return Tuesday afternoon.

The strong winds will cause travel difficulty for high profile
